Leather & me
Being addicted to design and all creative disciplines in life, I had my first formation on "Industrial Design" in Faculty of Architecture at Middle East Technical University (Ankara/ Turkey) and graduated in 1998. Same year I moved to London to enroll for BA Fashion Design program in Central Saint Martins in London, but because of the serious health problems of my sponsor, having been delivered the summer project to the school, I had to come back to my country and started to work in a holding as a product designer and interior architecture for 2 years. The fire of fashion was still burning in me, so I continued with full belief, this time by applying for "fashion design competitions". I got prizes as finalist in 2 most important national fashion design competitions. One of the collections named "Women of Fire", consisting of contrasting natures of leather and chiffon, was shown by a fashion shown, sponsored by ITKIB. Doors of "fashion world" were open for me for the second time, so I started to work for the fashion sector at 2001. In 2003, being attracted so much with leather, I moved towards leather, by designing collections for companies exhibiting at important international trend fairs, in Italy, (Mifur),France (Who is Next), Germany (CPD Dusseldorf, Frankfurt Fur) , England (Pure London) , USA (WWD Magic Las Vegas) , Japan (JFW / IFF Japan) , and varying fairs in Spain, Norway, Hong Kong etc. and some producing for the most important world brands. Thus,I had the chance to collaborate with designers from these famous fashion houses, work together with them in some projects. Since 2009, I live in Nice region, in France. Invited by "Le Cuir A Paris" fair organization, as they discovered my website, I had the chance to exhibit my very first personal line "Hande Fabbro", in septembre 2010 in Paris, consisting of washed and wired leather, clothes which can change form and which are transformable for varying usages. I'm still working on my personal project, at the same time working with companies as stylist and consultant.I strongly believe in interdisciplinary ties between all fields of design All of them are strongly affecting and inspiring each other. I appreciate too much at the same time that, my formation and professionnal background gave me the chance to observe fashion and design in different corners of the world. Thus, I could meet buyers, designers and producers, from many countries and understand the general tendencies in producing -selling-buying triangle. This fed my endless, childish curiosity for design, added another dimension to my point of view. I love this feeling, adding more dimensions everyday, discovery, voyages,both physical or inspirational. Maybe this is the strongest reason that I'm so much in love with my profession, with fashion and any field of design. My aim is not to take my place at a very "commercial" corner of the fashion world but creating "everyday masterpieces" without sacrificing from science+art+soul of "design", and serve the world with this approach.
